Formula by Age (From Birth–24 months)

British and European formulas are uniquely sorted by infant and toddler ages into different stages that correspond to changing nutritional needs as baby grows. The idea is that the formulas stages are designed to mimic changes to breastmilk content as baby grows from newborn to older infant to toddler.

British and European Formula Stages:

Stage 1 (from birth to 6 months) First Infant: These formulas are designed for newborns until around 6 months. The nutrient content is specific to very early cognitive (brain) and eye development, (lactose) carbohydrates for energy and growth, and vitamins/minerals appropriate for early childhood. Stage 2 (from 6 months to 12 months) Follow On: Second stage formulas are similar to Stage 1 but the proportion of nutrients and carbohydrates changes to accommodate this developmental stage. This includes introduction to first solids (weaning), a more active infant, and increased nutrient needs for more rapid growth and development. Please note: Stage 1 milk, although similar, is not nutritionally sufficient for 6-12 month old babies and should be discontinued. Follow on milk should be used instead. Stage 3 (from 12 months to 18 or 24 months) Toddler: The idea for third stage milk is to maximize nutritional content for this age's activity, growth, and regular consumption of solid foods and snacks. Toddler milks are designed to be a fully nutritional substitute for children who are not yet consuming (dairy or non-dairy) milk from the grocery store. The toddler milk formulas can be used until 2 years old (some companies allow use until 36 months) or when the child is ready for grocery store milk products. You can find Stage 3 formulas here.

For example, a Stage 1 powder formula can be used alongside a starter pack and first infant ready to feed formula. (Please adjust the feed quantities depending on your child's needs.)
